WELCOME TO LAURIE KAWAS'CORNER 

Hello, my name is Laurie Kawa,RN,ILCSN. I am an Illinois Certified School Nurse. I earned my School Nurse certificate at National Louis University. I have a Type 73 teaching certificate.This is my second year at Bartlett Elementary as a Certified School Nurse. I have also been working here as a Direct Service Nurse for 8 years. When I am not here taking care of the students and staff, my husband and I are busy taking care of our two daughters and our dog Sandy.

I work with students, families and school staff to promote health, prevent illness, manage chronic health problems and care for acute illness and injuries.  I also participate in health related educational evaluations and assessments including health histories for students. I am a member of the service team that participates in the Special Education planning needs of the students.I can provide health resources and referrals to the community including low cost medical care, vision services, and hearing assessments. As part of my job I also ensure compliance with Illinois State Board of Education regulations regarding physical exams, immunizations and other state-required data. Above all things I do here at Bartlett Elementary is in keeping children healthy and in the classroom!
