From Our Principal. . .

  Dear Independence Families-

The 09/10 school year is well under way and it has gotten off to a great start!  As we move into fall there are some important things for you to know:

1.  Please remember to update the school of any address changes or phone number changes.  You can reach our office at 630.213.5629.  We have bilingual support on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all day and Monday, Wedenesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30-4:30.

2.  When calling in absences please be specific regarding symptoms your child may be displaying such as; has a cough, is achy, and please tell us what your child's temperature is.  We are tracking this information for the district and county in regards to suspected H1N1 cases.

3.  Our Independence book fair will begin on November 2 and will run through November 6th.  It will be open daily from 11:30-1:30.  We will be hosting a family reading night on November 4th and it will be open that evening as well, we will also have story time with a Bartlett Public Library staff member.  More information about this will be coming home with your child as the time draws nearer.

4.  On October 30th we will be doing activities focused on the story Go Away Big Green Monster.  Teachers will be moving with their children through a variety of activities that day such as; a monster mash, cookie decorating, an art project and much more!  We are looking forward to it being a fun filled day for students and staff! (please no Halloween costumes)

As always thanks to all of our families for the support you provide to our school!  Enjoy fall!

Sincerely,

Lynn Reuter
