What is the Otter Creek Steering Committee?
The Otter Creek Steering Committee (OCSC) is a group of parents and staff working to:
• Promote the welfare of children
• Foster close relations between home and school in the education of students
• Establish a sense of community among parents, students, and staff
• Identify activities and allocate resources to support the school’s curriculum and programs
The OCSC is not a PTO or PTA in that we are an umbrella of the school. However our purpose and goals are similar. We formally meet about once a month. The meetings give us the opportunity to monitor finances, Listen to updates from the subcommittees, and discuss ways to meet the goals listed above. We conduct meetings in a timely manner (lasting approximately 1 hour) .
What can parents do?
We hope you will take the opportunity to get involved with one or more of our committees. You can either help lead a specific committee (many are co-lead) or just give a few hours of your time to assist. Each year we increase the number of parents taking on some role, and we hope this year is no different. The more parents involved, the more it will benefit each student and staff member at Otter Creek School.
