Dear Lincoln Elementary School Families:
Welcome to the 2009-2010 School Year! We are very happy to have all of you returning to our school and equally excited about having you if you are new to our school!
This year our school opens with a new Kindergarten and First grade classrooms. In order to accommodate these new classrooms it was necessary for Lincoln to acquire two additional mobile classrooms, or as the teachers and students refer to them; the chateaus!
Along with the additional new classrooms, we have several new and wonderful teachers that will be joining Lincoln Elementary school this year. Please check our web site to learn more about our new teachers.
Our school has been made a Title One school this year for the first time in its existence.This means that more than 50% of our students are receiving free and/or reduced lunch.Our school district then provides money to our school to provide students with breakfast, lunch, resources and materials. Our School Improvement Plan that our teachers have created for you student this year, will consist of several interventions that will help to promote more student and parental involvement throughout the year and additional resources and academic support.
Many of the interventions that we had last year, Tech Club, ELL tutoring, primary grade tutoring, Read 180, Skills Tutor, will return this year. Other inventions will be added to continue our efforts of guidance and support for every Lincoln Elementary student.
Next week, on Wednesday, September 9th, we will be offering our fall pictures to be taken. Parents, if you are interested in having your child’s picture taken, please return the form, envelope and money to your child’s teacher on or before Wednesday, September 9th.
The PTO continues to provide resources and support. This year, Deb Dameron, our PTO president is asking for parent/room reps to work with individual teachers. PTO supports teachers, supplies, events and activities. Deb and the PTO have planned this year’s activities calendar to include an Ice Cream Social, Book Fair, Sport Night and parent informational meetings as well.
Our Curriculum Nights will be on Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, September 9th, we will be inviting all of our morning Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade parents to attend. On Thursday, September 10th, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. we will be inviting all of our afternoon Kindergarten, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade parents to attend. Our Curriculum Nights will begin at 6 p.m. in our Gym with information about our school.
From 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 7:30 parents will be able to go to their child’s classroom and visit with all their teachers. I look forward to seeing all of you there!
In closing, I would like to tell you how much our teachers and I are looking forward to your help and support this year to make a difference in your child’s life. Together we can create an exciting school year and I encourage you to participate in our highly interactive parent-staff activities that we will be having this year. Mark your calendar for our first one, a reading workshop for you and your child, on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. In November, we will be having our annual Reading and Math Night on the 19th.

Estimadas Familias de la Escuela Lincoln:
¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2009-2010! ¡Estoy feliz de tenerlos aquí en la escuela de regreso e igual darles una calurosa bienvenida a todos los nuevos estudiantes!
Comenzamos el año escolar con un nuevo grupo de Kindergarten y Primer grado. Para acomodar estos nuevos salones fue necesario adquirir dos nuevos salones móviles.
Al tener nuevos salones, también tenemos maestros maravillosos que se unen a la escuela Lincoln este año escolar. Por favor mire la página en el Internet para saber más acerca de ellos.
Este año la escuela ha obtenido el “Titulo Uno” por primera vez desde su existencia. Esto significa que el 50% de los estudiantes reciben la comida gratis o reducida. El distrito escolar provee dinero a la escuela para dar a los estudiantes desayuno, comida, materiales y otro tipo de ayuda. Los maestros han creado el Plan de Mejoras para este año para los estudiantes, el cual consiste en varias intervenciones para envolver más a los estudiantes y padres durante el año escolar en adición a su ayuda académica.
Muchos de los programas que tuvimos el año pasado, “Tech Club”, Tutoría en el programa bilingüe, tutoría para el primer grado, programa de lectura 180, Tutoría de skills “abilidades”, regresan este año. Se ofrecerán otros programas en un esfuerzo para guiar y apoyar a cada estudiante de la escuela Lincoln.
La próxima semana, el miércoles 9 de septiembre, se tomaran las fotografías del otoño. Padres si ustedes están interesados en que su hijo/a le tomen la fotografía, por favor regresen la forma, el sobre y dinero a cada maestro antes del miércoles 9 de septiembre.
PTO continúa ayudándonos este año. Este año, Deb Dameron, presidenta de PTO le pide a los padres para que cada maestro tenga su representante. PTO ayuda a los maestros con útiles escolares, eventos y actividades. Deb y el comité de PTO ha planeado este año varias actividades esto incluye Noche Social de Helado (ice cream), la Feria del Libro, Noche de Deporte también ofreceremos información en las reuniones
La noche del Currículum será miércoles 9 de septiembre y jueves 10 de septiembre de 6 a 7:30 p.m. El miércoles 9 de septiembre, invitamos a los padres de Kinder de la mañana, primer, segundo y tercer grado. El jueves 10 de septiembre de 6 a 7:30 p.m. invitamos a los de Kindergarten de la tarde, cuarto, quinto y sexto grado. La noche del currículum comenzara en el gimnasio con información de la escuela de 6:30 a 7:00 p.m. y de 7:00 a 7:30 p.m. tendrán la oportunidad de visitar el salón de su hijo/a y al maestro. ¡Espero verlos a todos!
Para terminar, quiero decirles cuanto le agradecemos los maestros y yo el apoyo que nos brindan durante el año escolar eso hace la diferencia en la vida de su hijo/a. Juntos crearemos un año escolar interesante, yo invito a todos los padres a tener una alta participación en las actividades de padres-maestros que tendremos este año. Marca tu calendario para nuestra noche de lectura para usted y su hijo/a el jueves 1 de octubre, 2009 de 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. El 19 de noviembre tendremos una noche de Lectura y Matemáticas.
