Ellis Middle School Music Department

Middle schools offer band and string orchestra to all seventh and eighth grade students who have participated in the elementary instrumental music programs, or any students who exhibit level 1 proficiency on their instrument (as determined by the director).  Band and orchestra ensembles meet daily for one class period.  Instrumental music is a graded class, and quarterly and semester grades figure into student final grade point average.  In addition, all students enrolled in band and orchestra are required to attend sectional rehearsals held during the regular school day once per week for instrument-specific technical instruction.  Students participate in required concert performances and other performance-based activities and events throughout the year.
