ADULT EDUCATION

The GED® (General Educational Development) program offers adults a second chance to finish their high school academic work. It does not take the place of a regular high school education. However, it does provide the opportunity to earn a diploma for those who, for whatever reason, did not finish high school.

Every year approximately 800,000 adults across the country take the GED tests. With this diploma they are able to get better jobs, go on to college or additional training programs, and gain personal satisfaction in their achievements as they become role models to family members and friends.

The Adult Education program, housed in School District U 46, has been continuously funded by ISBE/ICCB since the late 1970's, serving approximately 600 students annually. U-46 offers the opportunity to attend ABE/GED classes at several locations in the district. These classes offer individualized and small group instruction.  Daytime and evening classes are available.  In addition, computer and office training classes are offered. All of these classes are FREE of charge.

Day class is from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  Monday through Thursday. Evening class and Spanish GED will begin in October. Call to sign up!
