Welcome to Canton Middle School
With so many things going on at Canton this month, you can get all of your updates right here on the front page of the school website:
Last Friday, the Canton Band sponsored a Guitar Hero Tournament after school. During the tournament, students had the opportunity to compete for great prizes (thanks to our sponsors from Target, Jewel-Osco, Sam's Club, and Ultra Foods!), while using the school's largest sound systems and digital LCD projectors to play on screens the size of the walls (20 feet tall in some cases!). All students had an outstanding time, and were left asking, "Can we do this again next Friday?!" Mr. Vanderwall and the Canton Band Parents and Students helped raise an extra $225 to offset this school year's $1,500 Band Budget reduction. Congratulations to the Band!
This Friday, PBIS will be sponsoring a Hoodies for Haiti day for all Canton Students. Students need to bring $2 to the Commons on Friday morning to wear their hoody. The following rules will apply:
-The hoody cannot be solid red, black, gold, or yellow
-The hoody cannot be a jacket, but it CAN be a zip-down hoody
-The hood cannot be worn at anytime
-I.D.'s must be worn outside the hoody at all times
-The hoody cannot have inappropriate graphics, images, words or phrases: If a student is not wearing an appropriate hoody, teachers have the right to ask them to remove the hoody and either confiscate it or have them place it in their locker.
-No items can be carried inside the pockets of the hoody (or students can be asked to take off their hoody.) (Examples: No cell phones, I-Pods, etc. The school rules for carrying such items still apply.)
-All students must have appropriate dress code underneath their hoody in case they get hot. (The weather is supposed to be 45 degrees on Friday.)
