WELCOME TO OTTER CREEK SCHOOL
Located in the southwestern part of Elgin, Otter Creek opened its doors in 2002. Our school name was chosen by students of Otter Creek. Our building is home to over 600 learners from preK to 6th grade.
OTTER CREEK VISION & MISSION
Students at Otter will begin their journey as lifelong learners, motivated to continually reach their potential, and become model citizens with positive character traits.
To build our community of learners and citizens, we will provide an atmosphere that allows every Otter Creek student to establish a solid academic, social, and emotional foundation. This atmosphere:
- Sets high academic and behavioral expectations for each student
- Allows students to take ownership of their learning
- Promotes student risk taking
- Respects and celebrates diversity
- Partners with parents and community in the education of children
OTTER CREEK GOALS
Otter Creek has identified 3 goals for the 2008-09 school year. The goals are:
1. Increasing student achievement in reading comprehension
2. Increasing student achievement in mathematics
3. Establish a climate that promotes effective student learning
The goals were developed based on needs identified by a variety of data sources. This includes test scores (ISAT, MAP, unit tests), surveys, observations and more.
